Grace’s First Year
Disclaimer #1: The following post deviates from the usual vibe of my blog posts in that it is personal in nature and all about me reminiscing on my baby girl’s first year of life (cue water works).
Disclaimer #2: In my attempt to gather some of my most favorite snapshots of Grace’s first year from my cell phone, “the Cloud”, my DSLR, my point and shoot, the albums and albums of photographs I have taken but haven’t had time to post (let alone sort through in the midst of editing others’ photos), other photographers’ works, the list goes ON – this post will be incredibly FULL of photos and probably only something I will cherish (along with Grace’s grandmas seeing as they’re happy clickers of the “Like” and “LOVE” buttons on practically every photo I post of Grace). Feel free to disregard this post entirely (or scroll until you’re bored ;)).
Disclaimer #3: This first year of Grace’s life FLEW by. Like I actually blinked and somehow birthed a 7 pound 7 ounce tiny human out of one of my orifices, leaked some milk for some months (sorry, TMI), watched her evolve and learn and grow and it’s already been a year. 366 (thank you, February 29) days. With that said, I value the art of photography even more. Photographs freeze fleeting moments of time. They capture details you think you’ll remember but can so quickly lose sight of, as your child grows (or your wedding day becomes less vivid or senior goes off to college). At the same time, I’m learning the delicate balance of being in the moment – without a camera or a cell phone in front of my face to soak up all I can. To be present with my ever-changing daughter (and husband, family and friends).
Disclaimer #4: Looking at a year of snapshots on the eve of your child’s first birthday wrecks you. Becoming a mom to a joyful, hilarious, sweet, spirited, laid-back little girl has awoken a love I never knew I was capable of. I’ve never loved anyone like I love my daughter. I’ve seen a side of my husband that has melted my heart over and over again, as he interacts with Grace. I’ve never been so thankful for the family and friends surrounding us. Raising a child truly takes a village, and I’m going to bed tonight so very thankful for this past year (with happy tears in my eyes).
Enjoy this snapshot of Grace’s first year!
